Sprouts... not just for Christmas

As a little girl I hated sprouts.  They were the devils food, horrid little round things with an odd smell, hard and unappealing. Or even worse if they had been cooked too long, slushy, off green colour and the smell!  My Mum would make me eat one - just one, and I wasn’t allowed to leave the table until I had eaten it. I knew what was coming so I’d choose the smallest of the bunch and I would sit there for hours staring at this little green thing. It would stare back at me with a menacing look on its face, threatening to poison me with every bit - nasty, horrid, round, vomit promoting blob!  Eventually I’d hold my nose and swallow it hole, it can’t get me if I haven’t bitten it!

 

Needless to say I love them now!!  Thank you Mum for putting me through that torture!

 

Now, the best way of having sprouts is chopped up very small and stir-fried with lots of garlic butter - they are delicious, pepper and salk and not a sign of the devil anywhere! 

 

Anyway that’s why sprouts are not just for Christmas!
